Welcome to the Next Chapter of Your Dental Home
Dear Parkway Dentistry Family,

I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new owner of Parkway Dentistry at Langtree. My name is Dr. Megha Agrawal, and it’s an honor to continue the legacy of exceptional dental care that this practice has built over the years.

My philosophy is simple — to care for every patient like family. My team and I are deeply committed to providing the highest standard of dentistry in a warm, comfortable, and personalized setting. Whether you’re here for a routine cleaning or a complex treatment, you can expect honesty, compassion, and excellence in every visit.

As we move through this transition, you may temporarily notice that our office appears out of network (OON) with certain dental insurance plans. Please rest assured — we are actively completing the credentialing process to become in-network with all the same insurance providers. During this time, we’ll do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience and help you navigate your coverage.

We’re genuinely excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to welcome you to your next appointment. Thank you for trusting us with your smiles — we look forward to taking great care of you and your family for many years to come.

Warm regards,
Dr. Megha Agrawal, DDS

How Jaw Trouble Can Lead to Ringing in the Ears

Posted on 2/20/2020 by LDAoffice
How Jaw Trouble Can Lead to Ringing in the EarsThat phantom noise in your ears, that ringing sound is known as tinnitus and is often associated with sensorineural hearing loss. Sometimes a small percentage of these cases can be caused by some other underlying factors, which would include temporomandibular joint disorder or commonly known as TMJ.

Those phantom sounds you hear are generated by your brain due to some damaged hearing sensory cells and neurons and unfortunately, you are the only one who can hear it. This is very hard to cure and is more often than not treated with management strategies that might include sound therapy and counseling.

Sometimes the tinnitus cases are caused by some other underlying disorder or factor, such as ototoxic medication (ear-damaging) medication, metabolic or cardiovascular diseases, tumors or middle ear injuries. In cases such as these if you treat the underlying conditions you can alleviate the tinnitus.

What is the connection between TMJ and Tinnitus?

TMJ is, of course, the acronym for the temporomandibular joint which is located in the front of your ear where your jawbone connects to the temporal bone of the skull. It also shares some muscles and nerves with the middle ear. Alignment connects the Malleus, middle ear bone, to the jawbone. There are certain nerves that both the jaw and the eardrum share equally.

However, what is important to note here is that there is evidence that there is a nerve that is supplied from the TMJ that connects to a part of the brain associated with hearing. Because of this, problems with the muscles, cartilage, and TMJ can lead to tinnitus.

As it happens that most of the time, tinnitus caused by TMJ often will disappear when and if the underlying problem is resolved. Please call our office if you suspect even a little bit that you might be dealing with a case of TMJ or a ringing in the ear or any discomfort whatsoever with your hearing due to what may be going on with your teeth or mouth, do not hesitate to call us right away, we are here to help you in any way.
