![]() The only thing they don't do is scrape their teeth so what is the difference? The difference is the tools we use, our view of your teeth and the materials we use. Our tools give us abilities that your tools don't have. Let's take a look. What Do our Dental Tools Do?We can start with the little mirror. Our mirror is made of special reflective materials that reduce the distortion other mirrored surfaces can have. It is specially designed to reflect light from above so we can see the interior of your mouth better. It also has a concave shape that increases the magnification abilities letting us see the tiniest of calculus deposits. Next, we have a scaler. This is what we use to remove the plaque and tartar that has formed on your teeth. It has two ends; one is sharp the other is blunt. One is designed for use above the gum line the other is for use below the gum line. The scraper removes the plaque and tartar that your toothbrush and ours cannot remove. But if it is not used properly, it can remove not only the plaque and tartar but can also damage the enamel on your teeth. We use our water sprayer to remove the debris. Following that, we polish your teeth. This is different than brushing. Our polisher uses a slightly abrasive paste that buffs your teeth and makes them smooth. This makes it easier for gum tissue to attach to your teeth. If you still aren't convinced, give us a call. We are happy to introduce you to the tools of our trade. |
